Police arrest five armed robbery syndicate in Lagos

Police detectives attached to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, have arrested five suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate who use lady gang members as bait to fleece unsuspecting victims of their belongings.

The suspects, including two women have been arrested and volunteered statements.

Their arrest, it was gathered, followed intelligence on their activities in the state.

Spokesperson for the command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin who confirmed the arrest, said intelligence on their activities was received on February 25, 2025 following which they were tracked to somewhere in the Iju Ishaga area of the metropolis and arrested.

Fake currencies of different countries, jewelry, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, international passports of different countries, two Toyota Camry cars and an unspecified amount of cash were recovered from the suspects.

Hundeyin gave the names of suspects as Messrs Idowu Ahewole, Waheed Opeyemi, Samuel Bamidele, Ajoke Oluwa Seun, Laide Ogunseun and Adegbite Okubunmi; adding that they would soon be arraigned at the end of investigation.
