Mobihealth International, in partnership with Airtel, has made telehealth services to Nigerians and Africans easy and affordable through its app on the Airtel network.
According to the partners, through the Mobihealth telehealth app, which went live on Airtel network on March 13th, millions of Airtel subscribers across Nigeria and Africa can now access healthcare anytime, anywhere.
Furthermore, the partners noted that the innovative initiative marks a significant step in expanding affordable digital healthcare, allowing users to connect with licensed doctors and healthcare professionals via video consultations, including remote medical consultations, electronic prescriptions, diagnostic services, and access to genuine medications.
Dr Funmi Adewara, founder and CEO of Mobihealth, described the impact of the partnership as a giant step towards their mission to bridge the healthcare gap by leveraging telemedicine technology.
Dr Adewara stated that Airtel’s vast network and connectivity infrastructure will enable seamless access to Mobihealth’s 24/7 telemedicine services, allowing people to consult with licensed doctors, receive prescriptions, and get referrals “all from the comfort of their homes, whether in bustling cities or remote rural communities.”
Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mr Femi Osinaja, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to digital healthcare access, stressing that Airtel has always been at the forefront of providing innovative solutions that improve the lives of Nigerians.
“Partnering with Mobihealth aligns with our vision of bridging the healthcare gap through digital transformation. Now, our customers can prioritise their health without barriers,” he said.
Some of the benefits to the subscribers include 24/7 access to doctors globally with affordable subscription plans from N5000 naira per year; access to secure medical records, prescriptions, and follow-ups; and integration with Mobihealth’s solar-powered, satellite-connected telehealth clinics.
Finally, the partners added that, with this collaboration, Airtel and Mobihealth have reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging digital technology to bridge healthcare gaps and improve health outcomes across Nigeria and beyond.
