An elder in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish, Quincy Ayodele, has revealed how the parish’s former Pastor-in-charge, Idowu Iluyomade, was barred from the church.

The elder also refuted claims that Iluyomade rebelled against the RCCG.

In an interview with Daddy Freeze, aired on Monday, Ayodele said she thought the RCCG would restore him to his parish after the leadership of the church suspended him for three months, which he served.

“We were expecting that after the three months, he would be restored to the City of David. but to our surprise, whatt we heard was that he was given a letter that he must not step into the City of David,” said Ayodele.

Iluyomade was suspended in June 2024 by the church’s governing council over allegations bordering on the audit of the church and the alleged resistance by the pastor to be transferred from the parish.

He was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish Region 11.

While speaking on the series of events that trailed Iluyomade’s suspension, the RCCG elder said Iluyomade was ordered not to step foot into the City of David.

“He was told not to enter the City of David. Why they did that is only known to our daddy, the governing council and God. I cannot answer why. But we are curious.”

She added that some church elders wrote letters to appeal to the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, imploring him not to take such drastic action against the suspended pastor.
