Corona plans varsity, as 72 graduate from Agbara Secondary School

In a new move to further strengthen its position in the education sector, Corona Schools’ Trust Council has concluded plans to establish a university.

The new move is a well-thought-out initiative by the school’s management to ensure that the 70-year-old institution owns an ecosystem to enable it groom students from nursery to the university level, not just for academic excellence, but to continue in its pursuit as the first choice to offer the younger generation a world-class educational experience.

Chairman of the Corona Secondary School Board, Olaniyi Yusuf, who disclosed this on the sideline of the school’s valedictory service for its ‘Class of 2025,’ noted that in a fast-changing world with limitless opportunities, Corona students have continued to distinguish themselves owing to the values they represent, hence, the need to ensure these traits form their bedrock from nursery to university level.

The occasion also presented the institution with the opportunity to recognise students who had distinguished themselves not just in academics, but in co-curricular activities such as sports, music, and poetry, among others.

Principal of Corona Secondary School, Agbara, Innocent Oaikhena, described the 72 graduating students as trailblazers.

“Every graduating set consists of trailblazers, and this 2025 set is not an exception. We pride ourselves in delivering world-class education to our students,” Oaikhena said, adding that the school inculcates high moral and ethical values in the students and also prepares them for leadership roles so that whichever spectrum of life they find themselves in, they can easily thrive.

The assertion of Oaikhena was not different from that of Anne Kenjang Nnorom, mother of the valedictorian, Wokeyim. She described her daughter’s experience as wholesome, rewarding, and unique learning experience that not only centred on academics, but crucial soft skills needed to thrive in the 21st century.
