Stakeholders laud Oyebanji’s performance at Ekiti roundtable

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji

Stakeholders have unanimously agreed that the administration of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has so far promoted excellent service delivery across the board in the state.

They made this unanimous position at a roundtable organised by a non-governmental and cross-generational organisation, Ekiti Future Agenda, in Ado-Ekiti.

Convener of Ekiti Future Agenda, Adesina Adetola, in his introductory message to the participants, maintained that “every opinion expressed by every participant might not necessarily be the opinion of the organisation but the main aim of the event is principally to objectively evaluate the performance of the governor based on his six pillars of administration, which include governance, youth development and job creation, human capital development, agriculture and rural development, among others.

However, in a general submission at the event, the participants who were drawn across all the relevant sectors of the economy, believed the governor’s performance was a service delivery to the people in the right direction.

They urged the public to rely on the right facts and figures in appraising the performance of the governor.

Ekiti State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Owoola Daramola, said: “By the general view of the performance of the governor so far, he has performed above average, though there are areas where he needs to double his efforts.”

Also, the state’s Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kayode Babatuyi, while highlighting the achievements of the governor, said: “Oyebanji’s approach to governance is unprecedented, especially in the area of inclusiveness and human capital development.”

In the same vein, the state’s Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Olusola Adigun, said: “There is no sector in the state that the governor has not positively touched in the last two years.”

In his view, the representative of teachers in the state at the event, Folorunsho Ayeni, declared that the governor has main major impact on the education sector, saying: “The governor is not relying on any shortcut to bring back the glory of the state in education, but making use of approaches that really represent our core values with our integrity intact as Omoluabi.”

Meanwhile, the Lead Discussant at the event, Director-General, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, Dr John Moyo Ekundayo, while presenting comprehensive facts and figures about the performance of the government in the last three years for the participants to objectively evaluate, said: “Since assuming office, Oyebanji has championed inclusive, participatory governance, emphasising transparency, infrastructural renewal and economic diversification.”

Also in his opening remark, Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Chairman and Moderator of the discussion, who was represented by the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Political Communication, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, said: “The event is an unprecedented avenue for stakeholders and leaders from diverse backgrounds to constructively review government’s performance and also project to the future.”
