The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have arrived in Nigeria from London and were received at the Umaru Musa Yaradua Airport in Katsina by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Nigerian Air Force aircraft conveying the late leader touched down at the airport around midday. On hand to receive the body was President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who received former First Lady Aisha Buhari and other members of the Buhari family on arrival with the former President’s corpse from the United Kingdom

Also present were Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, senior military officers, and top government officials.

From Katsina, the late president’s body is being transported to his hometown of Daura, where he will be laid to rest later today according to Islamic rites.

Preparations for the state burial are ongoing in Daura, with thousands of mourners gathered to pay their final respects.

President Tinubu had earlier declared a national holiday in Buhari’s honour and ordered that flags be flown at half-mast nationwide for seven days.
