Abuja agog as 46th CBN Senior Tennis serves off today

Some of the brightest stars in Nigerian tennis milieu have arrived in Abuja to fight for honours in the 46th Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yearly Senior Tennis Championships, which draw was held yesterday.

The qualifiers for the championship, which will end on July 26, started on Friday.

According to the draw, action will begin with the men’s and women’s singles at the tennis courts of the Package B of the MKO Abiola Stadium, while the doubles start tomorrow.

The men’s singles will start with the Round of 64, while the women’s event will start from the Round of 32.
The men’s and women’s doubles, as well as the wheelchair contests will be decided in the round of 16, the organisers said in a statement, yesterday.

Some of the top players expected in action are Sylvester Emmanuel, Imeh Joseph, Aanu Aiyegbusi, Oyinlomo Quadri and the women’s singles defending champion, Mary-Love Edward, among others.

The acting Director, Corporate Communications of CBN, Mrs Hakama Sidi Ali, reaffirmed the apex bank’s continued support for the championship.
