The Amuwo-Odofin Lawyers Forum has launched a free legal clinic to provide residents with access to justice without financial burden, aimed at addressing societal issues affecting the community.
At the inauguration of the clinic, Chairman of the forum, Chris Aghaonu, said the initiative would prioritise justice for all, especially the less-privileged, with land, property and matrimonial matters. He explained that the forum plans to improve outreach through market visits and distributing flyers to raise awareness about the clinic’s services.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the forum, Dr Peter Adekoya, described the clinic as a celebration of justice. He noted that many Nigerians remain unaware of their constitutional rights due to ignorance of the law, adding that the clinic would bring legal knowledge closer to the community to help residents understand and defend their rights.
Outgoing Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Council, Valentine Buraimoh, highlighted the importance of making justice accessible to those who could not afford legal representation.
He emphasised that ensuring justice for the less-privileged through the court system should be a priority to effectively tackle societal challenges.
