Liberia’s President, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has praised the outgoing President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, for his significant contributions to Liberia’s development through the bank, citing 18 projects valued at $408 million.
He made the commendation at the launch of the Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank (YEIB) in Monrovia recently.
President Boakai described Dr. Adesina as a “trusted partner and a champion for Africa’s development.”
Boakai also praised Adesina’s leadership for increasing the AfDB’s capital from $93 billion in 2015 to $318 billion in 2025, a growth he described as “not just progress, but transformation.”
He stated that the YEIB recently launched is funded with $16 million from the AfDB, intended to support young entrepreneurs in agriculture, technology, and the knowledge economy.
The Liberian president reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development, good governance, and youth empowerment, and expressed gratitude to Dr. Adesina for his relentless efforts in advancing Africa’s development.
