Oduwole applauds OSAMEDE teaser, creative vision of Olubi

The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has shared her admiration and support for the Nigerian historical fantasy film ‘OSAMEDE’, following the release of its official teaser.

Her words: “I am so happy and proud to share the teaser for ‘OSAMEDE’, a powerful historical epic movie produced by my dear friend, Lilian Olubi (@goldlilies\_lilian). I have known Lilian closely for over three decades, and she truly embodies what it means to be a nation builder. I remember when she first shared the idea for ‘OSAMEDE’ with my husband and me about five years ago. To see it now, after 12 successful stage performances, emerge as a full-scale film that recently screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Market in France is simply heartwarming.

“As someone who has always been drawn to the rich cultural legacy of the Benin Kingdom, I am particularly excited about how this film brings that history to life with pride and excellence.

“Having watched Lilian excel across the pillars of faith, family, business, and media, I had no doubt this film would be extraordinary. This is ‘OSAMEDE’ the movie for Kingdom and for Country. Well done, my dear friend and the entire team. I can’t wait for the world to see this project.”

‘OSAMEDE’ is set for theatrical release in the fourth quarter of 2025. The film blends historical authenticity with epic fantasy, inspired by the 1897 Benin Empire and the sacred Aruosa mythology.

Directed by AMVCA-winner James Omokwe and executive produced by Lilian Olubi, the film recently screened at Cannes Marché du Film to international acclaim. The teaser is now live and continues to gain traction globally.
