Digital Equity Africa has launched a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) summer camp for children and teenagers, in partnership with UNESCO, Oracle Academy, and Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The programme, titled ‘Future Minds AI Summer Camp 2025’, will run from August 4 to 16 at Oracle Corporation’s Heritage Building in Ikoyi, Lagos, with a concluding Demo Day scheduled for August 17. The camp is designed for participants aged 6 to 17 and will include both in-person and virtual learning components.
According to organisers, the programme will introduce participants to core concepts in AI, digital safety, ethical use of technology, and application development. Children will also learn how to create music, visual art, and animations using AI tools, as well as work in teams to solve practical problems.
The camp curriculum is jointly developed by Digital Equity Africa in collaboration with UNESCO, Oracle Academy, NITDA, and the organisers of Kids Tech Fest – A Global AI Summit for Children.
Founder of Digital Equity Africa and Convener of Future Minds, Justina Nnam Oha, said the camp builds on lessons from a previous summit that brought together over 5,000 participants.
“This camp is more than a summer program. It is a pipeline for Africa’s future thinkers, builders, and innovators,” she said. “Building on the momentum of Kids Tech Fest, we are scaling impact through deeper, more immersive learning.”
Selected children from low-income communities will also participate in the camp as part of an inclusion effort led by the organisers. The programme will conclude with a presentation session where campers pitch their projects and receive Certificates of Recognition as Future Minds AI Ambassadors.
