The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Prof. Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, has expressed optimism that the National Universities Commission (NUC) will grant express and timely approval for the institution to commence new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Guidance and Counselling, Philosophy of Education, Cybersecurity, and Data Sciences.
The optimism, he said, was based on the favourable remarks of the NUC resource assessment teams that visited the university on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Speaking while addressing the teams, the Vice-Chancellor, represented by his deputy, Prof. Muyiwa Popoola, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, staff and students’ welfare, and campus security.
Prof. Adebayo noted that ACU remains determined to expand its academic offerings and will not relent in seeking approval for more programmes.
“I will like to reaffirm the commitment of this university to the vision and mission of our founding fathers, which revolve around academic excellence, staff and students’ welfare, and infrastructural development. All these are geared toward making learning both enjoyable and purposeful,” he said.
According to him, ACU’s curriculum is designed to equip students with global competitiveness and technical expertise, particularly through training at its Centre for Entrepreneurship.
“Our drive for more undergraduate and postgraduate programmes remains unquenching and is hinged on our investment in facilities and the dedication of our staff. That is why staff welfare remains a central pillar of our mission,” the VC added.
Prof. Adebayo further stated that in scholarship, research and knowledge remain limitless, and the management of ACU is always open to constructive advice that will improve the university’s academic standing.
“At ACU, we understand perfectly that education thrives in an environment where infrastructure supports learning. We are therefore very optimistic that express and timely approval will be granted by the NUC to commence the programmes, based on the very good remarks of the teams during their visit,” he said.
