House of Representatives member, Mr. ikenga imo Ugochinyere, has raised over N50 million to help support families of those who lost their loved ones through the activities of unknown gunmen in his constituency.
The lawmaker representing Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo State disclosed that the disbursement of the emergency support fund will take place in his hometown of Umukegwu Akokwa, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State tomorrow.
Ugochinyere’s media aide, Mr. Charles Okafor, who confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, explained that the money was raised from friends and associates of his principal.
He assured that the monies will be used to support the welfare, education, and businesses of the victims’ families, as well as the vigilantes in the affected communities.
“Ikenga thanks his friends and associates for answering the humanitarian call to support his people in this trying time. We hope that the Local and State Governments will, in their duty, also come to the aid of these communities by not just supporting the victims but empowering the community security in all Ideato communities to avert a repeat of this kind of bloody carnage and killings,” he noted.
