Rex Insurance has launched its flagship Retail Street Storm campaign in Yaba, Lagos, in a bold effort to bring insurance education and adoption closer to everyday Nigerians.
The grassroots activation, which kicked off in Yaba and extended to surrounding areas including Sabo and Jibowu, saw teams from the company’s Retail Business and Brands departments engaging directly with residents, market traders, and commuters. The aim was to demystify insurance, highlight its value in protecting lives and businesses, and showcase Rex Insurance’s flexible, affordable products.
Speaking at the launch, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Ebelechukwu B. Nwachukwu, said the initiative reflects the company’s mission to simplify insurance and make it accessible across social classes.
“Insurance is not just for big businesses or the elite; it is for everyone,” Nwachukwu said. “Through the Retail Street Storm, we are meeting people where they are — in markets, on the roads, and in their communities — to show that insurance is simple, affordable, and essential. Our retail business is a core part of what we do, and this campaign underscores our commitment to reaching everyday Nigerians.”
Participants in Yaba responded positively to the outreach, welcoming the opportunity to learn how insurance can protect them against risks such as fire, theft, and accidents. Rex staff handed out educational materials, explained the benefits of policies, and encouraged residents to explore products designed for individuals, families, and small businesses.
The company plans to extend the Retail Street Storm to other major cities, including Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and Abuja, in the coming weeks. Each activation will be tailored to the needs of the host community to ensure messaging resonates with diverse audiences.
Rex Insurance described the campaign as part of its long-term strategy to deepen market penetration and strengthen its retail footprint. Licensed by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), the company offers a broad portfolio ranging from motor, fire, and agricultural insurance to marine, aviation, energy, and personal coverage.
With over a decade of experience in Nigeria’s insurance market, Rex Insurance operates from 12 business locations nationwide. The firm says its focus over the next five years is to grow its gross written premium, enhance profitability, and consolidate its position among the country’s top-tier general insurers.
The Retail Street Storm, the company added, is a clear statement of its commitment to protect what matters most while fostering a culture of resilience, efficiency, excellence, integrity, and teamwork among its staff and clients alike.
