The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system adopted by the Ogun State Government has once again produced certified digital technicians who will enhance their ability to solve hardware issues and configure new equipment, among other skills.
This announcement was made at Ogun TechHub, Abeokuta, during the convocation ceremony for the pilot group of participants in a free Cybersquad Training Programme organised in partnership with Cybervilla.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cybervilla, Ifeanyi Adirika, spoke at the event, noting that the partnership with the Ogun State government, which involves providing free technical support to youths, is a testament to the sincere PPP initiative led by Prince Dapo Abiodun.
This initiative has positioned Cybervilla as one of its key investors in technology. Adirika explained that the graduates of the first free training programme have formed a network of skilled, empowered, and forward-thinking digital technicians. They are dedicated to redefining how troubleshooting, repairing digital devices, installing and configuring new equipment, and delivering technical support services are handled across Nigeria, all while representing Ogun State.
In his goodwill message, the Special Adviser for ICT, Dayo Abiodun, congratulated the graduates, stating that the barriers to becoming tech engineers have been broken through a series of training modules. These modules can enable anyone with genuine interest to learn and find gainful employment.
He recalled that earlier this year, the Ogun State government and Cybervilla reached an agreement to further strengthen youth development initiatives led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, especially in building digital and vocational ecosystems that empower young people and bolster the digital economy. Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, also congratulated the youths, particularly the CyberSquad graduates, for the unique opportunities made possible since the establishment of Ogun TechHub by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
This initiative aims to expose individuals to the wealth in technology and digital marketing. Represented by the Director of Standard Regulations Planning and Research at the Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), Olatundun Adekunte, Onasanya urged the graduates to raise awareness about the programme and share their experiences, thereby contributing to the reduction of unemployment in the country.
Appreciating Ogun State government and Cybervilla for realising their goal of becoming certified digital technicians, Timilehin Ajisebutu, on behalf of other beneficiaries, pledged to utilise the knowledge gained during the three-month training programme effectively.
Meanwhile, stakeholders in the Ogun State technology ecosystem have urged Governor Abiodun to establish a dedicated Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, arguing that only a formal, institutional focus can transform the state’s promising digital talent and infrastructure into sustainable economic growth.
The Ogun tech community, a coalition of technology professionals, startups, innovation hubs, and digital advocates across the state, said the delay in establishing an ICT-focused ministry is undermining Ogun’s ability to leverage federal digital initiatives and take advantage of national policies such as the Nigeria Startup Act.
