Aspirants contesting the stool of Awujale of Ijebuland, Ogun State, are to report to the office of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ijebu-Ode, following the cancellation of the meet-and-greet event earlier scheduled at Afin Awujale.
This was just as the state government halted the nomination process of the aspirants contesting for the revered stool of Awujale, following petitions and reports submitted by security agencies and key stakeholders
The directive follows a letter dated January 20, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi; his deputy, Otunba Dokun Ajidagba; and the Vice Chairman, Prof. Fassy Yusuf.
The communication notice instructs all Awujale nominees to report to the DSS office, situated along NTA Road, beside the State Psychiatric Hospital, off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode, by 11 am sharp on Wednesday.
The council apologised for any inconvenience the sudden change might have caused, stressing that the decision was due to the cancellation of the previously scheduled event at the Aafin Awujale.
The Secretary of the Awujale Afobaje Council, Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja, in the signed letter, charged all relevant nominees to strictly adhere to the directive and arrive on time.
The directive coincides with ongoing traditional processes related to Awujale nominations in Ijebuland, as the details of the meeting with the DSS were not revealed.
The letter partly reads, “We write to formally inform you that the meet-and-greet earlier scheduled for this morning at the Aafin Awujale has been cancelled.
Accordingly, the Awujale nominees are hereby directed to report to the Department of State Services (DSS) office located at State Security Service (SSS) Along NTA Road, Beside the State Psychiatric Hospital, Off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode. Time: 11:00 a.m. prompt.”
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this change may cause. Kindly ensure that all concerned nominees are punctual and comply strictly with this directive,” It added.
