The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed a suspected insurgent attack on Gare village in Pallam District of Madagali Local Government Area, which occurred in the early hours of Monday.

According to the police, the attackers abducted six members of a family and carted away an unspecified number of livestock during the incident.

Following the report, security agencies launched a joint operation in the area involving personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, troops of the Nigerian Army’s 144 Battalion and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

In a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, additional security assets were deployed to neighbouring communities.

The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, was said to have ordered sustained search-and-rescue operations, reinforced patrols and heightened security presence across Madagali and other border communities.

The measures are aimed at ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted victims and preventing further attacks.

The police command said it is working closely with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to safeguard lives and property across the state, adding that further updates would be provided as the operation continues.
