The Nasarawa government has approved N13 billion for council chairmen to construct a one-kilometre road in each of the state’s 13 council areas.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aminu Muazu-Maifata, disclosed this during a ministerial press conference in Lafia, yesterday.
The event was organised by the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr Ibrahim Tanko, to enable government officials to showcase their achievements.
Muazu-Maifata explained that Governor Abdullahi Sule had since granted autonomy to the LGAs and set up a structure to coordinate and ensure proper utilisation of the councils’ funds.
According to him, the structure was intended to review each LGA’s monthly demands in relation to their monthly allocations and other revenues, and to agree on releases to address those demands.
