The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old man over alleged defilement of a six-year-old girl in Ibadan.
The Command disclosed this in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.
Ayanlade said the victim was allegedly coerced and indecently assaulted multiple times throughout December 2025 by the perpetrator.
According to him, the victim was hawking at Onikeke in the Ayegun area of Ibadan when the perpetrator allegedly committed the crime.
“According to the report, the victim was allegedly coerced and indecently assaulted multiple times throughout December 2025 while she was hawking at Onikeke, Ayegun area, Ibadan.
The alleged perpetrator, identified as 65-year-old Ibrahim Raheem, has been apprehended and has since confessed to indecently abusing the child, though he denied engaging in carnal knowledge.
“Following the discovery of these acts, the victim was immediately taken to a hospital for comprehensive medical examination and socio-psychological care to address the trauma of the ordeal,” the Oyo police spokesman said.
In other news, a 32-year-old man, James Osita, has been arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in Ile-Oluji, headquarters of Ile-Oluji Local Council Area of Ondo State.
According to sources, the suspect had, on several occasions, sexually abused the teenager before he was apprehended by police operatives in the community.
While confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, stated that one Uchena reported the incident, after which operatives promptly arrested the culprit and rescued the victim.
Jimoh disclosed that the suspect, who is already in custody, had confessed to the crime, adding that the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
He said, “On 5th February, 2026, a report was made at the police station by one Uchena (male) that earlier the same day, at about 1600 hrs, a 13-year-old female (name withheld) was allegedly sexually abused at Asio, Ile-Oluji, by one Osita James (male), aged 32 years.
“Upon receipt of the report, the victim was promptly rescued and taken for medical examination. The suspect was immediately apprehended and is currently in custody, where he reportedly made useful statements and confessed to the commission of the crime.
“During preliminary investigation, the victim disclosed that the suspect had allegedly committed similar acts against her on several occasions prior to the incident. The suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
“This arrest aligns with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, whose reform-driven leadership continues to strengthen gender-sensitive policing, promote accountability, and enhance strategic responses to sexual and gender-based violence nationwide.
