Veteran musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has called on Nigerians to show greater appreciation for members of the military, saying their sacrifices often go unnoticed despite the risks they take in serving the nation.

Speaking in an interview with Voice of Nigeria, the singer, while encouraging a culture of gratitude, said simple gestures matter.

“If you see any military person, just tell them, ‘Thank you for your service,'” he said.

While acknowledging that no institution is perfect, he stressed the need to recognise those doing their jobs with integrity.

“We may say some crooked ones exist, but the correct ones we need to give their kudos.”

2Baba revealed plans to work more closely with the military as part of his ongoing advocacy efforts, noting that many personnel operate in situations civilians can hardly imagine.

He added that his broader mission is rooted in nation-building and constructive dialogue.

“Before we condemn, let’s try to correct. These people enter situations ordinary people like me can’t even dream of, in the name of the nation, and they don’t get the recognition they deserve,” he said.

“Let’s try to build and make things work properly,” he said, while also emphasising the importance of tolerance and healthy debate.

“Everybody has a journey… I want us to have healthy competition and not be afraid of different opinions.”
