THE 1995 set of Odofin Secondary School, Mile 2, Lagos, has donated a lawnmower and a submersible pumping machine to their alma mater. The ex-students of Odofin Secondary School made the donations when they visited their former school as part of activities marking 30 years they left secondary school.
The team lead of the representatives of the 1995 Set was Mr. Olarenwaju Afolabi, who briefed the principals on the reason for the trip although a team had been interacting with the immediate past principal of the senior secondary school. Afolabi said that the 1995 Set felt the need to give back to its alma mater as part of activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of graduating from Odofin Secondary School. He added that after making enquiries about what the 1995 Set could donate to the school, the land mover and pumping machine were picked.
On hand to welcome and receive the old students were the Principal of Odofin Senior Secondary School, Mrs. Toyin Oyinkolawa; Principal, Odofin Junior Secondary School, Mrs. Taiwo Omolola Ajetunmobi and teachers. The two principals, who addressed the visiting former students, were excited about their visit, stating that the donated items would be put to good use.
Oyinkolawa said: “I am very glad that you came and God will continue to enlarge you and your group. Every one among you that is still alive should give thanks and that you are able to do this for your alma mater.” She, however, said that like an oliver twist the school will still be appreciative of more support from the 1995 Set.
The principal of the junior school echoed similar thoughts, saying the school will always be open to collaboration with its alumni. The visit was rounded off with a pep talk with the students, cash donation to the principals, teachers as well as cutting of the anniversary cake.
