Gombe State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Engineer Aliyu Mohammed Kombat, has donated rice to party officials in all 114 wards of the state through his Velocity Humanitarian Foundation.
The Secretary of the foundation, Dr Babangida Hammani, said the donation was intended to support party members during the holy month of Ramadan.
He explained that the distribution also extended to mosques, with ward executive members receiving 10kg bags of rice, local government executives 25kg bags, and state executive members larger quantities.
Dr Hammani noted that Kombat’s philanthropic efforts extend beyond rice donations, adding that he has also provided N20,000 cash assistance to patients in hospitals across the state during the month.
Former Shongom Local Government Chairman, Yohanna Nahari, commended Kombat’s gesture, describing interventions by non-governmental organisations as “complementary and essential,” noting that the government alone cannot meet the needs of all citizens.
Nahari further emphasised that entrepreneurs who are party members should support the president’s efforts in assisting the less privileged, especially during critical periods, saying such acts enhance the party’s image and credibility among the electorate.
“Party leaders giving back to the society will promote and sell the party to the people,” he added.
