The Force Commander, Multi-National Joint Task Forces (MNJTF), Maj.Gen. S.T. Audu, has charged troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) DUJI to step up operations against terrorists operating on the Nigeria-Niger borders and ensure they hold their ground.
The Force Commander gave the charge on Wednesday during the operationalisation ceremony of the FOB DUJI.
Audu said the operationalisation of the FOB was key to denying the enemy freedom of action between the Nigeria-Niger borders within Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno.
He also said it would facilitate the reopening of the Damasak-Maiduguri Road.
The Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK/MNJTF) Monguno, Lt. Ayodeji Abiodun, said the FOB DUJI was set up in August 2025.
The Force Commander noted that several successes have been recorded but further charged the troops to be resolute, resilient, fearless and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.
He implored them to brace up for the tasks ahead, urging them to constantly conduct robust patrols to crush the enemy in the hinterlands.
Audu stressed the need for mutual relationship between the Forest guards, Nigerian and Nigerien troops, which he described as a force multiplier in the operation.
He assured the troops of improved welfare and logistical support to back their efforts.
In his welcome remarks earlier, the Commander Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and MNJTF, Maj.-Gen. Suleiman Tilawan, said the establishment of FOB DUJI was the beginning of good things to come.
Tilawan stated that the operationalisation of the FOB was history-making because there had been no military presence in the area for a long time.
He appreciated the Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, for the logistics support which led to the realisation of the project.
He said the establishment of the FOB has enabled Sector 3 to maintain an active presence along the Nigeria-Niger border.
According to him, this will assist in reopening the Damasak-Duji-Diffa Road and the resettlement of Nigerian refugees from Diffa in Niger Republic.
Tilawan said that since its establishment, the FOB has been conducting combat operations in conjunction with Nigerien troops at Diffa, aimed at restoring peace and stability in the area.
The event had in attendance the Chairman Mobbar Local Government Area, Hon. M. Gas, Commander Operation NALEWA DOLE Diffa region, General De Brigade Ali Hamidou Issa, Brig.-Gen. S.S. Ahmed, and other senior officers from the MNJTF.
