Justice E.B. Muhammed of the Kwara State High Court yesterday sentenced the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) former Local Government chairmanship candidate, Comrade Musbau Eshinrogunjo, to nine months imprisonment for assaulting a police officer.
Eshinrogunjo was found guilty and sentenced for disturbing public peace and for obstructing a police officer in the execution of his lawful duties.
The judge delivered the judgement after a trial that extended over three years and three months.
According to the judgement, Eshinrogunjo was sentenced to three months imprisonment, without an option of fine, for obstructing Sergeant James, a public officer on duty.
He was also sentenced to six months imprisonment for disturbing public peace, although with the option of a two thousand naira fine.
The prosecution presented four witnesses, including the assaulted police officer before concluding the case.
