A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has unveiled a 17-point agenda outlining his policy direction ahead of the 2027 Nigerian general elections.
Ajadi said the programme is designed to reposition the state for sustainable economic growth, improved security and better public service delivery under what he described as the “Omituntun 3.0” framework.
According to him, leadership should function as a relay race where new administrations consolidate existing progress while introducing innovative policies to deepen development.
Ajadi’s agenda places significant emphasis on industrialisation and economic diversification.
He said his administration would pursue a deliberate industrial policy aimed at reducing dependence on federal allocations by attracting both local and foreign investors.
The strategy includes expanding industrial zones, providing tax incentives and strengthening infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
Agriculture also features prominently in the plan.
Ajadi proposed programmes to support farmers with mechanisation, improved access to credit and expanded market opportunities.
He said the state would prioritise large-scale cultivation of crops such as cassava, rice, cocoa, cotton and maize while promoting agro-processing industries and export-driven agriculture.
The aspirant pledged to implement an infrastructure maintenance programme dubbed “Operation No Single Pothole”, aimed at improving road conditions across both urban and rural areas.
He also proposed a modern urban transport system featuring smart buses with GPS tracking, surveillance systems and cashless payment technology, alongside the gradual introduction of electric and hybrid vehicles.
Ajadi said security would remain a core priority of his administration.
He proposed strengthening community policing structures, deploying technology for crime monitoring and improving coordination among security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The manifesto also includes proposals for reforms in education and healthcare.
Ajadi pledged to promote free and compulsory basic education, expand digital learning infrastructure and strengthen technical and vocational education aligned with industry needs.
In healthcare, he proposed universal health insurance coverage, upgrades to primary healthcare centres and the establishment of specialist hospitals to improve medical services across the state.
Youth and women empowerment programmes also feature prominently in the agenda.
Ajadi said his administration would expand skills acquisition initiatives, provide access to soft loans for small businesses and create opportunities within the sports and creative industries.
On electricity supply, he pledged investment in independent power projects and renewable energy initiatives to support homes, industries and public institutions.
He also outlined plans for improved water supply systems and modern waste management reforms involving stronger legislation and private sector participation.
Ajadi assured that civil servants would benefit from regular salary payments, merit-based promotions and improved working conditions.
He also promised to clear verified pension backlogs and introduce digital systems to strengthen pension administration and healthcare support for retirees.
Concluding his policy presentation, Ajadi pledged transparent and participatory governance if elected.
He said his administration would prioritise accountability and remain responsive to the needs of residents across Oyo State.
