Plateau State government has alerted residents of KanamLocal Council to a military operation against bandits in the Garga axis following a security incident on Friday.
The Kanam Development Association had on Saturday raised the alarm over the attack on security personnel, including vigilantes, by bandits in the council area.
According to the group, the security agents, who were part of a patrol team, were ambushed in the Garga area of the council area.
In a statement yesterday, the government expressed deep concern over the incident, which resulted in mayhem among residents.
The government commended security personnel and vigilantes who lost their lives confronting the attackers.
MEANWHILE, a resident of Garga Community, Musa Yusuf, who travelled all the way to Jos, told The Guardian that the number of casualties had increased to 26.
He said: “It is now 26. Iam confirming it to you now.One of the vigilantes, who died on Sunday,is my brother’s son. I saw the six whodied, including two soldiers.”
