The Vice-Chancellor of Crawford University, Igbesa, Prof. Solomon Makinde, has enjoined students to acquire 21st-century skills to enhance their relevance and employability, thereby fostering self-reliance after graduation.
Makinde gave the charge at the university’s matriculation ceremony, where about 917 new students were admitted for the 2025/2026 session. The cohort comprises 832 undergraduates and 85 postgraduates.
Speaking at the event, the vice-chancellor advised the students to imbibe the culture of transparency, honesty, humility, and perseverance.
“Be exemplary in your conduct, for you are the leaders of tomorrow. Embrace the fear of God, it will guide you to success in your academic journey,” he stated.
Makinde congratulated the new intakes, describing their choice of Crawford as a testament to the institution’s growing reputation for quality teaching and learning.
The VC also emphasised that matriculation is not merely a ritual, but a covenant of discipline, excellence, and purpose.
He added that they are the inheritors of a legacy built on sacrifice, faith, vision, and a resolute commitment to holistic education.
“We are committed to providing you with sound education, moral guidance, and a conducive learning environment,” he added.
