Oluwo visits Skyward College of Nursing Sciences, offers scholarships to first five enrolled applicants

The Oluwo of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, accompanied by his entourage of chiefs and palace staff, paid a visit to Skyward College of Nursing Sciences in Iwo, Osun State.

He was warmly received by the Chairman of the Governing Board, Prof. Lai Olurode; the Provost of the institution, Alhaji Imam Abubakar Ayinla; the Acting Registrar, Abdulazeez Ayobanji Mumeen; and several members of staff.

The Provost expressed his gratitude to the Oluwo for the visit and delivered an inspiring speech on the journey leading to the establishment of the institution. He emphasized that the college was founded with the vision of providing affordable high-quality healthcare training and producing nurses who uphold strong moral and professional standards. He also highlighted the institution’s commitment to addressing the shortage of nursing professionals, particularly in light of the increasing migration of healthcare workers abroad.

Furthermore, he noted that the college has invested in modern facilities and advanced teaching aids to ensure students receive the best possible training in a conducive learning environment. He added that these standards were validated by both the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) during their accreditation process. The Provost concluded by announcing that admission into the nursing programme for the 2025/2026 academic session is currently open to candidates who sat for the JAMB examination.

Oluwo expressed admiration for the quality of facilities at the institution and commended the management for establishing such a valuable center of learning in Iwo. He appreciated the Chairman of the Governing Board, Prof. Lai Olurode, for his contributions to the development of Iwoland, including the ongoing renovation of the Iwo Stadium.

Prof. Lai Olurode thanked the Oluwo for his unwavering support for healthcare education in Nigeria. He noted that the institution was established out of a deep sense of responsibility to provide affordable, high-quality education to members of the community. He further expressed appreciation that such a significant development has taken place in Iwo during the reign of the Oluwo of Iwoland.
