Kaduna Police clarify motor park explosion, rule out bomb blast

Two buses damaged due to CNG explosion in Kaduna State

The Kaduna State Police Command has allayed public fears following the early morning explosion at Mando Motor Park, clarifying that the incident was not a bomb blast but linked to a gas-powered vehicle.

In a statement, the Police Command said reports suggesting an explosion from other causes were misleading, noting that the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on April 5, 2026, at Silver Luxury Travel, located at Mando Garage in Kaduna.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene upon receiving the report.

“Preliminary findings revealed that the incident involved a gas-powered luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel, which exploded due to overfilling of its gas tank,” he said.

He added that the affected vehicle has been evacuated to a safe location, while the area has been secured.

“No casualties or loss of life were recorded, and normal activities have resumed in the area,” Hassan stated.

The Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, has ordered a full investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and prevent a recurrence.

Hassan further disclosed that the bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria Police Force has been deployed as part of standard safety procedures.

The command urged residents to verify information before sharing, warning that unverified reports—especially on security matters—can trigger unnecessary panic.
