Traditional rulers and community leaders from Kupa, Kakanda, Oworo and Eggan communities in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi StateKogi State have commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for improved security across the area.
The leaders gave the commendation during a meeting with the governor, where they acknowledged his administration’s efforts in tackling insecurity, particularly in the difficult terrains of Lokoja II Constituency.
In his opening remarks, the Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu, praised Governor Ododo for his strong commitment to the safety and well-being of residents, noting that proactive security measures have restored public confidence.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Maiyaki of Kupa Land, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dauda Kabir Isa, lauded the governor for dislodging bandits and other criminal elements from affected communities.
“We commend your resolute efforts in securing our communities. Your actions have restored a sense of safety that many families had lost. With your support for security agencies and community policing, farmers can return to their fields, traders can move freely, and children can attend school without fear. Peace is the most valuable gift you have given us,” he said.
The royal father also appealed to the governor to prioritise the reconstruction of the Jamata–Budan–Abugi–Eggan road to further improve accessibility and drive development, while appreciating ongoing infrastructural projects across the state.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Kogi State Bureau of Public Procurement, Barrister Sunday Ehimoni, noted that the governor’s policies have positively impacted the welfare of the Oworo people, particularly in healthcare, education and general well-being.
The member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives highlighted projects facilitated to the area and pledged additional logistical support to strengthen security, while commending the governor’s people-oriented leadership.
Similarly, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Yusuf Umar, expressed gratitude to the governor for restoring public confidence in the government’s ability to protect lives and property.
In his response, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo thanked the traditional rulers and community leaders for their support and cooperation, stressing that collaboration with local communities remains critical to sustaining peace.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid actions that could undermine security efforts, warning against harbouring criminal elements.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to tackle all forms of criminality, insisting that his government would not negotiate with criminals.
Governor Ododo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support in ensuring security in Kogi State and for his commitment to delivering on promises made to Nigerians.
