Sunday School Teachers of Lagos Province 85 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), last week, met at the church’s province headquarters at Fagba, Lagos, for a train-the-trainer programme titled: “Teachers As A Midwife.”
The programme was designed to impact new knowledge to teachers at the grassroots on how to handle their classes and awaken their consciousness to the current reality on ground.
Speaking on the essence of the programme, Pastor-in-Charge of Province LP 85, Matthew Aiyedun, said it is aimed at ensuring that that the doctrine of Jesus Christ is not watered down and also for teachers and students to do more for Christ, raise new soldiers to work in the vineyard and leave by the word.
On Pastors that preach heresies and go against the church’s doctrines, Aiyedun called on members to report such pastors with the necessary evidences, adding that the church authorities would act on such information with the urgency they require.
He said: “Any Pastor that preaches heresies in RCCG will face the wrath of the church. However, majority of them escape punishment because members do not call the church’s authorities to such acts. Bring them up with evidence, definitely something will be done.”
The Provincial Pastor noted that teaching in the Sunday school is one of the noblest jobs and enjoined teachers to present their topics in a clear and simple manner for the students to understand.
“I was a Sunday School teacher, it is a noble call to teach in that department. If we are doing well, raising other people, and our students see the honour in teaching, they will join us as well,” he stated.
Region 53 Sunday School Coordinator,Pastor Roseline Abiodun, disclosed that the conference was first held at the Regional Levels in February and that the current one was organised to train coordinators that were not at the February edition and teachers at the grassroots, as well.
Stressing that the provincial conference will from now be an annual event, Pastor Abiodun disclosed that a well-trained teacher will surely produce a well-grounded Christian that would be spirit-filled, join the work force and impact his or her community for good.
The facilitators were: Pastor Matthew Aiydun, who spoke on, “Teachers As Midwife;” Pastor Emmanuel Ekwedike, who handled, “Teaching To Transform.
: Building A Firm Foundation For Generation To Come;” while Pastor AdejuwonAdegboye dealt on, “The Teacher As A Facilitator Of Self Discovery;” and Pastor Nelson Adeyelu tackled, “When Teaching Becomes Courageous Standing For The Truth.”
