The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, says it has arrested 210 suspects for offences ranging from vandalism, fraud, and illegal mining within the last one and a half years.
The State Commandant, Mrs. Remilekun Ekundayo, disclosed this on Tuesday during a familiarisation visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council in Abeokuta.
Ekundayo also said the command recovered over N23 million for victims in fraud-related cases during the period under review.
She added that more than 1,700 disputes were resolved through Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms within the same period.
According to her, the command has sustained intelligence-driven operations aimed at preventing criminal activities, protecting pipelines, railway corridors, and power installations across the state.
She noted that the achievements reflect the corps’ commitment to safeguarding critical national assets, stressing that security remains a shared responsibility.
Ekundayo called for stronger collaboration with the media to enhance public awareness and security consciousness in the state.
She said the visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation with journalists, whom she described as critical partners in the state’s security architecture.
“In matters of security, your role becomes even more strategic and impactful,” she said, adding that the NSCDC is mandated to protect critical national assets, prevent vandalism and economic sabotage, and support disaster management and emergency response.
Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ in the state, Wale Olanrewaju, assured the command of continued collaboration through accurate and timely reporting on security issues.
