After a successful maiden performance on September 6, 2025, classical singer, Usunobun Oriwoh, is warming up with a galaxy of stars. Guest artistes include Fidelis Onah, Anieto Nwannebuife, Ugo Aluziwe, Regal Bel and the Green Chamber Choir.

At the event, billed for Utako in Abuja, the songbird is expected to be accompanied by accomplished organist, Zitu Benafa.

Last year, she put up an impressive performance in the United Kingdom, with her maiden solo concert, The Prayer, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Luton.

Set within the solemn and acoustically rich Catholic Church environment, the concert offered audiences an evening of sacred classical music shaped by reverence and vocal discipline.

Oriwoh’s programme reflected a thoughtful engagement with prayer-themed repertoire, delivered with controlled phrasing and tonal clarity appropriate to the classical tradition.

The performance marked an important milestone in the singer’s artistic development, representing her first solo concert in the UK.

Observers noted her calm stage presence and the confidence with which she sustained the programme, qualities that underscored her growing maturity as a classical vocalist.

Beyond its musical value, The Prayer highlighted Oriwoh’s commitment to presenting sacred music as both an artistic and spiritual experience. Her ability to connect with audiences in an international setting further reinforced her emerging profile within the global classical music space.

The Luton concert stands as a significant step in Oriwoh’s evolving career, positioning her among Nigerian vocalists contributing to classical and sacred music performance beyond national borders.

In a chat with The Guardian, she disclosed her intention to contribute to the development of the music industry, and create opportunities for musicians from ethnic minority backgrounds, in next 10 years.

The music career that began at a local church choir in Sokoto State, when she was barely nine, has been taken to the world state. Without formal training, she developed her skills through dedication and practical experience. She later joined her university choir and participated in performances organised by the Forum for the Inculturation of Liturgical Music (FILM).

Oriwoh has performed at various events, serving as a choirmaster in Abuja, teaching music with ZimusiQ, being an active member of the Green Chamber Choir, Abuja, and a founding member of the Sokoto Chorale Ensemble. She has also composed descants for Evening of Hymns.
