Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the constitution of a high-powered Consensus Committee on Party Harmonization and Aspirants’ Engagement aimed at strengthening internal democracy and promoting unity within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the initiative is designed to enhance dialogue, deepen stakeholder engagement, and foster consensus-building among party aspirants across the state.
The committee is also expected to reduce internal tensions, resolve competing interests in various constituencies, and encourage voluntary withdrawals where necessary in the interest of party cohesion and electoral success.
The statement noted that the move is part of broader efforts to discourage anti-party activities and ensure the APC remains united ahead of the forthcoming elections.
“The constitution of this Committee reflects the commitment of Governor Uba Sani to inclusive leadership, internal cohesion, and the preservation of unity within the party,” the statement read.
The committee will be chaired by the Deputy Governor, with the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly serving as member. Other members include the State Party Chairman, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff to the Governor, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Commissioner for Information and Culture, and the Deputy Chief of Staff (Legal Services). The State Party Secretary will serve as secretary.
The statement further explained that the initiative aligns with Governor Sani’s broader vision of promoting dialogue, consultation, and consensus-driven politics, with the goal of positioning the party for a united and successful outing in the 2027 polls.
