The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man, Sagir Muntari, over an alleged ritual-related offence at the General Hospital in Funtua, Katsina State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday in Katsina.
According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended after hospital staff reported suspicious movement within the premises of General Hospital, Funtua.
On May 9, 2026, at about 4:20 p.m., a staff member reportedly noticed an unidentified individual moving suspiciously around the facility and alerted security personnel.
Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the suspect was arrested and later identified as Sagir Muntari.
During interrogation, he allegedly admitted to entering the hospital with the intention of engaging in
ritual-related criminal activity, according to the police statement.
The command added that investigations are ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged to court. It also reiterated its warning against criminal and ritual-related activities, stressing its commitment to safeguarding lives and protecting public institutions across the state.
