Shinkafi seeks party intervention over EFCC petitions

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State, Dr. Abdullahi Sani Shinkafi, has appealed to the national leadership of the party to intervene over a petition allegedly filed against him with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Shinkafi, who is also a senatorial aspirant for Zamfara North Senatorial District, said the petitioner accused him of collecting money for contracts allegedly not executed.

Addressing journalists at his residence in Gusau, Shinkafi maintained that all contracts awarded to him during the administration of former Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle were duly executed.

According to him, the petitioner alleged that he received government funds through his company during Matawalle’s tenure without carrying out any project.

“In the petition, he claimed that I collected money from the government during the tenure of Bello Mohammed Matawalle using my company, but did not execute any project,” Shinkafi said.

He further alleged that the petitioner accused him of sponsoring terrorists in an attempt to tarnish the image of the former governor.

“The petitioner even alleged that I was sponsoring terrorists just to tarnish the former governor’s image, but the people of the state know the role I have been playing in fighting banditry,” he added.

Shinkafi, however, stated that the money he received from the government during Matawalle’s administration was meant for the former governor’s re-election campaign and was used for that purpose.
