The coast appears clear for the emergence of Ahmed Galadima Aminu as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State following the withdrawal of three aspirants in his favour ahead of the party’s primary election scheduled for today.
Those who stepped down are Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, and Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Thul.
Announcing his decision, Engr. Abubakar described the move as necessary for party unity and progress, urging his supporters across the state to rally behind Galadima.
He also pledged N200 million and all his campaign offices to support the Galadima campaign.
Similarly, Comrade Mustapha Salihu withdrew from the race in the interest of party unity and subsequently declared his intention to contest the Adamawa Central Senatorial seat.
According to him, the success and stability of the APC remain above personal ambition.
Galadima, during a thank-you visit to the immediate past APC National Vice Chairman on Wednesday evening, commended Salihu for his selflessness and leadership, promising to work closely with him in advancing the interests of Adamawa State.
He also wished Salihu success in his senatorial ambition.
In the same vein, Ibrahim Bello Thul shelved his governorship ambition in what he described as a spirit of sportsmanship and endorsed Galadima’s candidature.
Thul said Galadima remains a unifying figure capable of bringing party faithful together and advancing the collective interest of the APC in Adamawa State.
Political observers say the endorsements and withdrawals reflect growing support for Ahmed Galadima Aminu ahead of the APC governorship primary and future electoral contests in the state.
