The Alimosho Founders’ Advisory Council (AFAC 79) has called on all members to pledge their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while urging the party to stop internal quarrels and work together before the next elections during the group’s launch.

The grand event, which took place at the Alimosho Local Government Event Hall, brought together top government officials, traditional rulers, and grassroots mobilisers under the core mandate of unity and political stability.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Alimosho Advisory Council, Ade Babalola, explained that the main goal of the group is to bring different political groups together under one strong umbrella.

“We are here today to unify all the caucuses in Alimosho. The purpose of our association is to bring together the elders and descendants of the Awolowo political tradition to ensure peace in the political space, speak with one voice, and unite under a single caucus, the Asiwaju Progressive Movement across all 57 local governments of Lagos State. Let them be known,” Babalola stated.

The chairman also urged all political contestants to avoid violence as the elections draw near. He praised the previous work of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he was the Governor of Lagos State, pointing out that good governance requires a peaceful environment.

“I implore all contestants to embrace peace in the upcoming elections. Without peace, no nation can stand. Asiwaju is the one who will lead Nigeria to the promised land; looking at Lagos State today, you can see how he transformed it. He established a visionary platform that funded the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees for students. Furthermore, he followed constitutional processes by creating more local government areas in Lagos, a committee I was proud to be a member of in 1993 . Lagos till today provides the highest revenue to the centre,” he added.

Babalola finished his speech by warning that the council will not tolerate divisions, adding that working as one team is the only way to win elections.

“As a forum we want all our members to be united, there should not be different caucuses, there should not be division. We want to bring everyone together to become one formidable force capable of winning elections.”

Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Chairman of the council, Supo Akinola, said the group is made up of long-standing leaders who have been active since the late 1970s. He noted that the council act as a guide to settle small arguments before they become big problems for the party.

He said, “We are a body of elders who have been here since the inception of our political movement in 1979. Our goal is to create awareness about our role as a steadying force within the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Akinola noted.

“We provide counsel, foster continuous dialogue, and we act as a bridge among party members. Our vision is ensure that minor disagreements do not escalate into full-blown crises, we maintain harmony, unity, and discipline across the party structure.” He said.
