Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted a 20-member National Selection Committee to oversee the review and approval process for aspirants participating in the party’s forthcoming Governorship and National Assembly primaries.

According to a statement signed by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the committee was approved by the party’s National Leader following recommendations from the National Working Committee (NWC).

The committee is tasked with reviewing reports submitted by the National Screening Committee and making final decisions regarding the clearance of aspirants seeking to contest under the party’s platform.

Committee Membership

The committee is chaired by Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe and includes notable political figures such as Buba Galadima, Udenta Udenta, Yenusa Tanko, and Aminu Abdulsalam among others.

The party stated that only aspirants cleared by both the National Screening Committee and the National Selection Committee would be eligible to purchase nomination forms.

NDC added that where consensus arrangements fail, direct primaries will be conducted between May 28 and 30, 2026, in line with party guidelines.

The committee is expected to be formally inaugurated on May 25, 2026, before commencing its official duties.
