Oyo Rolls Out N120m Food support Scheme for workers

Governor Seyi Makinde

As part of efforts to ease the financial burden on workers ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Oyo State Government has commenced the distribution of subsidised food items to civil servants across the state.

The initiative, coordinated through the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS), includes the sale of rice, vegetable oil and rams at reduced prices to interested workers under a repayment arrangement spread across three months.

Speaking during the flag-off of the exercise in Ibadan, the Chairman of ACCOS, Sheikh Akeugberu Akeugbagold, said the programme was designed to cushion the impact of rising living costs and ensure workers celebrate the festive season without excessive financial strain.

According to him, the state government committed over N120 million to procure the commodities distributed under the scheme, which forms part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s worker welfare initiatives.

Represented by the corporation’s Coordinating Head, Tunde Oladejo, the chairman explained that beneficiaries would begin repayment deductions from their July 2026 salaries.

He added that the intervention reflects the administration’s continued focus on improving workers’ welfare and expanding access to affordable food items during festive periods.

The government also urged beneficiaries to sustain support for ongoing state policies, assuring residents that more people-focused programmes would continue to be introduced.
