There was pandemonium in Oshodi yesterday, as armed political thugs attacked the Spokesman of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode, popularly known as Omojomolo.

Olukayode, who contested the Lagos State House of Assembly primaries under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was reported to have emerged victorious, was attacked at about 12:10 p.m. at Afariogun Junction, off the Airport Road service lane.

Eyewitnesses said that the assailants, said to be four in number, arrived on two motorcycles and attacked the vehicle conveying the APC’s candidate in the Lagos State House of Assembly primaries.

The incident caused severe damage to the windshield and side windows of his vehicle, while Ogundipe is currently hospitalised.

Confirming the incident, a statement from his media office stated: “Yes, he was attacked and is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.”

Also reacting to the incident, the Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Oshodi-Isolo Local Council, Kayode Tinubu, who reportedly rushed Ogundipe to the hospital, expressed anger over the development, describing the attack as unfortunate and dangerous for the peace and stability of Oshodi.

Meanwhile, officers from Makinde Police Station, Mafoluku-Oshodi, who visited the scene of the attack to assess the level of damage, vowed to investigate the incident and apprehend the culprits.

The attack has since generated widespread reactions among party loyalists and residents, many of whom have condemned the violence and called for calm, justice, and a thorough investigation into the incident.
