Fortune FA, at the weekend, showed that they are in this year’s Nathaniel Idowu U-16 Football League for the title when they bashed Bright Stars SA 6-0 victory in Week 4 of the championship.

The result means Fortune FA have now won all four of their matches, scoring 21 goals and conceding just one to remain firmly at the top of the standings with 12 points.

Fuad Oyesina was the standout performer, scoring a first-half hat-trick in the 17th, 35th and 43rd minutes. Quadri Akanbi also grabbed a brace, scoring in the 10th and 50th minutes, while Odesola Odunayo completed the rout in the 73rd minute.

The emphatic victory further underlined Fortune FA’s early dominance as the league leaders continue to set the pace.

Young Eleven FA are the closest challengers to Fortune FA after recording a 2-0 victory over St. Petersburg FA. Daniel Hameed opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Olatunji Michael doubled the advantage shortly before half-time.

The victory takes Young Eleven to 10 points from four matches, following three wins and a draw, leaving them two points behind Fortune FA.

St. Petersburg, who had recorded victories in Weeks 2 and 3, suffered their second defeat of the campaign and remain on six points.

SC Heritage also strengthened their position with a 2-0 victory over Divinely Blessed. Norbert Jonathan put Heritage ahead in the 30th minute before Joshua Garba sealed the points with a late strike in the 90th minute.

The victory was Heritage’s second consecutive win and moved them to seven points, level with Ajegunle United.

Ajegunle United, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the campaign after losing 2-0 to Atico FA in an entertaining encounter.

Azeez Yakubu gave Atico the lead in the 30th minute before Akinwale Ayoola doubled the advantage eight minutes later.

Ajegunle United were unable to find a response as Atico held on for their first victory of the season, moving to four points, while Ajegunle remained on seven.

In another encounter, Moore Wins FA recorded their first victory of the campaign with a 5-1 comeback win over Seraphic FA.

Seraphic took the lead through Wisdom Okafor, but Moore Wins responded strongly. Olatuga Pelumi levelled the scores before Sunday Maji put Moore Wins ahead. Quadri Yekini added a third, while substitute Korede scored twice in the second half to complete the comeback.

The result lifted Moore Wins to four points, while Seraphic remained without a point after four matches.

Week 4 produced 20 goals across the five matches, further highlighting the attacking quality on display in the competition.

With Fortune FA maintaining a two-point lead over Young Eleven, while Ajegunle United and SC Heritage sit on seven points, the battle for the leading positions is beginning to take shape as the league heads into Week 5.
