Raw vocals, stripped-down artistry and pure musical connection defined the maiden Lagos Acoustic Experience held at the Balmoral Event Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The carefully curated evening brought together some of Nigeria’s most compelling live performers for an intimate showcase that proved great music needs no production excess. The event offered a refreshing departure from heavily produced concerts, instead focusing on live instrumentation and emotional connection between artistes and audience.

Leading the night was Lagos-born prince and afrobeats star, Adekunle Gold, who showcased his musical evolution in a warm, acoustic setting that highlighted the depth and maturity of his artistry. Fans experienced a refined version of his catalogue, delivered with clarity and emotional precision.

Alternative music star Brymo during his set, delivered a powerful and soul-stirring performance that was marked by his signature vocal depth and poetic expression. His performance reinforced his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most unique and thought-provoking voices X user jailed for cyberbullying Adekunle Gold.

Rising star Faveszn impressed the audience with a stripped-down performance that brought her songwriting strength and vocal clarity to the forefront. Her delivery of fan-favourite tracks carried emotional weight and authenticity, earning strong audience reactions.

Afrobeats sensation Fola rounded out the lineup, adding a vibrant spark to the evening, thrilling music lovers with energetic moments that balanced the acoustic mood with lively rhythm and excitement.

Speaking after the event, co-organiser, Oluwafemi Abegunde, a Principal Consultant at Arch Raphael Limited, explained the vision behind the concert. “Africa language is music and dance, and we export our talents globally but it’s important to bring the talents home to connect with others,” he said.

“Lagos is not all about ‘Detty December’.  There are other activities and Ileya holiday is one of the best times to stage an experience like this — have beautiful original African sounds. The artistes that performed tonight are the representatives of who we are.

“This is the maiden edition of many editions. We are not rookie when it comes to entertainment. Africans love music and we will continue to curate experiences for the audiences,” Abegunde added.

Speaking on how to improve the creative industry, the CEO said: “There must be continued deliberate efforts. More investment is needed to make music contribute and be beneficial to everybody.”
