Davnotch promises increased prize money, enhanced welfare for players

Davnotch National Open Tennis Championship

Players featuring in future editions of the yearly Davnotch National Open Tennis Championship will earn more money and get other incentives in future editions of the championship, the organisers have said.

Pledging its continued investment in the development of the sport through the sustenance of the Davnotch National Open Tennis Championship, the firm’s Managing Director, Emmanuel Ochei, affirmed that sports development requires consistent investment, innovation and deliberate planning.

“Future editions of the Davnotch National Open Tennis Championships will feature increased prize money and enhanced initiatives for players,” he said, adding that Davnotch’s association with tennis in Nigeria is replete with high flying achievements, prominent amongst which is breaking of Nigeria’s 37-year jinx of failing to advance to the group two level of the Davis Cup, which the country achieved recently by beating highly ranked Uzbekistan.

Ochei said that the feat was facilitated by the products from previous editions of the Davnotch National Open Tennis Championship.

He expressed confidence that the tournament would provide a fertile ground for the discovery of innate talents, nurturing champions and positioning Nigeria as a leading force in African and global tennis.

“That remains our vision and we are committed to making it a reality,” he said.
