That Nnamdi Kanu Lawyer’s ‘English’

T4T would not have bothered to tell you about this if the subject was not a lawyer, because English is not our mother tongue. But Mr. Maxwell Okpara is a lawyer, and he is not just an ordinary lawyer, he is the counsel of jailed separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently doing life in a Sokoto correctional centre for terrorism.

T4T was snooping around Facebook earlier in the week when he came across a video where Mr. Okpara was being interviewed in a Podcast show. He was still arguing the innocence of his client even though an appeal to the High court judgment has been filed, and this was what T4T heard.

“They did not ‘brought’ any person who said Mazi Nnamdi Kanu committed any act of terrorism because he watched his videos or listened to his audio messages.” T4T paused the video and took it back because he was not sure he heard correctly, but oga Okpara repeated that gaffe thrice. “They did not ‘brought’ anybody…” ‘brought’?

The comments section was on fire. Some not very nice Nigerians said so many unpleasant things and even attributed the jailing of Nnamdi Kanu to Okpara’s very ‘wonderful’ English speaking which they said confused Justice James Omotosho who out of ‘frustration’ handed a life sentence to the Biafran leader. That is not true sha, haba! But Nigerians nor dey gree.

Oga Maxwell, you need to improve. What T4T heard was not a slip, you can’t repeat a slip thrice, you nor sabi wetin to talk.

Mrs Ibu, But Why?

WIFE of late Nollywood comedy actor, John Okafor popularly called Mr Ibu, Stella Maris Okafor, stunned the world some days ago when she appeared in a video soliciting for welfare help from well meaning Nigerians.

This is happening less than two years after the legendary Mr. Ibu passed away. Mrs. Ibu said so many emotional things(including fetching water from the compound well and the landlord cutting power to her apartment because she could not afford to pay ‘NEPA’ bills) that should make a stone hearted Nigerian to dip his hands into his pocket if the economy was friendly. But at the moment, no matter how emotional you are, your pocket go tell you.

A day after her video went viral, a young man who claimed to be Mr. Ibu’s son(obviously from another wife) came online to counter Stella Maris’ claim alleging that she can’t be broke so soon after she sold Mr. Ibu’s two houses, kept over 60 million naira of the donations from the public when the actor was battling the illness that took his life. The young man narrated how Stella Maris effectively shut the other kids of the actor out and was ‘grooving’ all the monies coming in for the late actor, alone. When he asked her for his share, the young man claimed Stella Maris sent him some ‘miserable’ money.

In response, Mrs. Ibu in another video admitted she sold the said property in Lagos and Enugu states, but she did not do it on her own authority. She was inferring she got the consent of the wider family to carry out the action.
Now, T4T did a mental calculation of the money from the two property and leftover of the donations in her care, that should be some millions of naira. So, Mrs. Ibu spend even if na 15 million finish in less than two years? She claimed she deals on jewellery, profits nor dey come out of the jewellery business? Was she living large as wife of Mrs. Ibu concern or did she do a bad business investment?

Let’s Forgive The ‘Man Of God’, What You Think?
FOR about two weeks now, a video of a supposed man of God(name withheld) from the SE region of the country has been bouncing from one person’s device to another. The story was that the man of God’s mobile phone was faulty, so he gave it to a fixer. It was the fixer who saw the horrific videos featuring the popular pastor and different women in the church’s congregation. It was not a pleasant sight to behold. At a point, the pastor was seen grinning heartily into the camera, perhaps out of celestial satisfaction. It was a disgrace to behold.

Anyway, after seeing his life laid bare before the world, the pastor has come to the realisation that he is a full blown disgrace, so, he decided to apologise and take responsibility for his action.

“I am not proud of the videos circulating online because I never wanted my children or family to see them. Most of the women who came to me sought prayers for the fruit of the womb. I urged them to wait on God’s perfect timing, but many said they were under unbearable pressure from their husbands and in-laws over childlessness so insisted I put it in since I represent the Lord. I accept responsibility and I beg for your forgiveness”, this statement that T4T cannot Independently verify purportedly came from our ‘man of God’.

T4T is leaving the matter in your hands. Should the world pardon the pastor and move on, after all, he has apologised?
But T4T has one question for the ‘man of God’; why did he even think of recording his escapades with some ‘children of God’?
