Parallex Bank has rewarded 10 outstanding athletes from the Lagos State contingent to the 2025 National Youth Games with ₦1 million each, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment and sports development through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The athletes, who excelled at the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba, received a total of ₦10 million during a presentation ceremony held at the bank’s headquarters in Lagos.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Parallex Bank, Dr. Olufemi Bakre, presented symbolic cheques to the athletes in the presence of the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, coaches, sports administrators and other stakeholders.
Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Bakre said the initiative reflects the bank’s belief in investing in young people whose talent, discipline and determination position them as future champions.
“At Parallex Bank, we believe that investing in young people is an investment in the future. These exceptional athletes have demonstrated excellence, discipline and resilience, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements. Through this recognition, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering young talents and enabling limitless possibilities for the next generation,” he said.
The recognition followed the impressive performance of Team Lagos at the 2025 National Youth Games, where the state’s athletes secured medals across several sporting events, further strengthening Lagos’ reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading centres for youth sports development.
Commending the initiative, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission described Parallex Bank’s intervention as a strong demonstration of corporate social responsibility and private sector support for grassroots sports.
He noted that the bank’s continued investment in young athletes has provided additional motivation for emerging sporting talents while complementing government efforts to develop sports across the state.
According to him, the collaboration between the Lagos State Sports Commission and Parallex Bank has evolved into a strategic partnership that continues to promote excellence, reward outstanding performance and encourage more young Nigerians to pursue sporting careers.
The latest intervention builds on the bank’s previous support for Lagos athletes at earlier editions of the National Youth Games and underscores its broader commitment to youth development, education, community empowerment and sustainable social impact.
By recognising excellence beyond the classroom and workplace, Parallex Bank said it hopes to inspire more young Nigerians to pursue their ambitions with discipline, resilience and a commitment to excellence.
