Veteran Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere, is set to make a highly anticipated return to Abuja with “OVERTHROW: The Legacy Continues,” a concert that promises to celebrate the enduring appeal of indigenous Nigerian music and the legacy of one of its most influential performers.
Scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Sol Lounge Resort, Jahi, Abuja, the concert is being organised by Stealth Mode Ltd, powered by Zillionaire Media Global Services Ltd, in partnership with Sidophobia Entertainment.
Beyond a live music performance, the organisers describe the event as a celebration of culture, identity and the enduring relevance of Fuji music in Nigeria’s contemporary entertainment landscape.
For more than three decades, Obesere, widely known as Agbaakin Abobagunwa of Yoruba Land, has remained one of the defining voices of Fuji music, building a reputation for electrifying performances, cultural storytelling and a loyal fan base that cuts across generations.
The organisers said the concert is expected to draw more than 5,000 guests, including music enthusiasts, business executives, government officials, diplomats, celebrities and key stakeholders in the entertainment industry, making it one of the biggest indigenous music events to be hosted in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking on the significance of the concert, the Managing Director of Stealth Mode Ltd, Kaycee Nnamdi Oguejiofor, described Obesere as an artist whose influence extends far beyond entertainment.
“Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere is more than an entertainer; he is a cultural institution whose impact transcends music. Through OVERTHROW – The Legacy Continues, we seek to celebrate his extraordinary contribution to African music and culture while delivering a world-class entertainment experience worthy of his legacy,” he said.
Obesere, in his remarks, dedicated the concert to the fans who have supported him throughout his career.
“My fans have stood by me for decades, through every season, every album and every performance. OVERTHROW – The Legacy Continues is my way of celebrating that journey, our culture and the music that has united generations. Abuja should expect the full Obesere experience—energy, culture, nostalgia and a performance they will never forget. This is not just another concert; this is a celebration of legacy,” he said.
The organisers also announced that ticket sales, VIP packages, executive table reservations and sponsorship opportunities have officially opened.
According to them, the concert will be driven by an integrated marketing campaign spanning television, radio, print, outdoor advertising, digital platforms, influencer marketing and public relations, with an estimated reach of over 10 million impressions across Nigeria and the African diaspora.
As anticipation builds ahead of the October event, OVERTHROW: The Legacy Continues is expected to reinforce Obesere’s place as one of the enduring custodians of Nigeria’s indigenous musical heritage while offering audiences an evening that blends entertainment with cultural celebration.
