Yobe College confirms receipt of N4.12m NELFUND payment for 107 students

The Yobe State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Gujba, has confirmed receiving N4,124,664 from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to cover the registration fees of 107 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a letter of acknowledgement addressed to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, dated May 10, 2026, the institution said the payment was made under the Federal Government of Nigeria’s student loan scheme.

The Rector, Dr. Alkali Usman, who signed the letter, acknowledged receipt of the funds on behalf of the institution’s management, staff and students, describing the intervention as a major boost for beneficiaries.

According to the letter, the payment covers registration fees for the affected students and is expected to ease their financial burden while enabling them to continue their education without interruption.

The college commended the Federal Government’s student loan initiative, saying it had brought “hope and assistance” to students and would facilitate the timely completion of their studies.

Meanwhile, checks on the agency’s dashboard on Friday revealed that of as July 3, 2026, it has disbursed over N303billion institutional fees and upkeep allowance to 315 beneficiary institutions and over 1.6million students.
