Oyo Pupils, Teachers Abduction: Babcock University schools hold special fasting, prayer for their safe release

The Principal of Babcock University Schools, Ogba, Lagos, recently organised a special fasting and prayer programme for the safe release of pupils and teachers abducted by bandits in Yawota community in Oriire local council, Oyo State.

Speaking during the event, Principal, Elder Adeniran Adebayo, said that God’s intervention is a major weapon and highly needed for the safe and speedy release of the children and their teachers.

Citing Psalm 46:1 and Psalms 50:15, Elder Adebayo explained that they have chosen to come before God in faith because they believe He will hear their petitions and bring comfort, protection and deliverance to the people.

“As we pray and fast, let us unite our hearts in faith, compassion and hope. May God grant wisdom to Nigerian armed forces and all those working for the release of these school children and teachers, strengthen their families and bring this situation to a joyful and peaceful end,” he said.

The President of Lagos Mainland Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Umezuruike Uchegbue, saidGod is a dependable father and there is no problem He cannot solve.

He assured the management, staff and students of the school that God will answer their prayers concerning the safe release of the abducted school children and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State.

Referring the Principal and his team Psalm 46:1 and Isaiah 41:10, he lamented the evil in the world, adding that God remains faithful with those who are in trouble and as such, he will surely rescue the school children and their teachers.

He also commended the management and staff of Babcock University Schools, Ogba for the special fasting and prayer session for the safe release of the school children and teachers.

The schools’ Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Vice Chairman, Prince Oguegbulam Ejiofor, who was also present at the event, said that what happened in Oriire, Oyo State was an eye opener and called on the management of the school to beef up security within and around the school by taking proactive measures such as installing Close Circuit Television (CCTV) in the school premises.

Encouraging the school security personnel to be at their duty post at all times, and also to ensure that they scrutinise those coming into the school premises properly among others. He also prayed to God to intervene and deliver the children and their teachers.

Also present at the event was Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Director of Lagos Mainland Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Happy Kona, who as well offered prayers for the school children and their teachers.
