Sparkle Foundation equips over 1,000 teachers with practical skills in Ogun State

No fewer than 1,000 teachers were equipped with practical skills during the Sparkle Foundation and Alpha Global Teachers’ Training Conference held across Ogun State. The group also called for greater investment in education in Nigeria, adding that it is a renewed purpose to transform learning outcomes in the state..

The conference, with the theme: “Teaching with Purpose: Equipping Educators and Raising Change Makers,” reaffirmed the critical role teachers play in shaping future leaders and driving sustainable national development.

Delivering her speech, Ogun Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, commended the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sparkle Foundation, Mrs. Olasimbo Ojuroye, and the CEO Alpha Global, Mrs. Caroline Popoola for their unwavering commitment to improving education and creating a platform that celebrates, encourages and equips teachers, particularly those serving children from less-privileged communities.

“I commend the CEO of Sparkle Foundation, Mrs. Olasimbo Ojuroye, for her passion for education and for creating this platform to celebrate, encourage and equip teachers, especially those working with children from less -privileged backgrounds,” the deputy governor said. Salako-Oyedele encouraged teachers to continue viewing their profession as both a calling and a service to humanity, noting that every leader, entrepreneur, professional and change maker once sat before a teacher.

Executive Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Evangelist Joshua Olalekan Ifede/ Executive Director Bet9ja Foundation, Mrs. Ada Cuomo emphasised on teachers’ empowerment as one of the most strategic investments any society could make.

Vice Principal,Green Springs School, Ikoyi, Mrs Omobola Odutayo, a facilitator, challenged educators to move beyond traditional teaching methods by creating classrooms that inspire creativity, critical thinking and lifelong learning.

The event also provided opportunities for networking, collaboration and professional development, allowing teachers from different schools and communities to share experiences and best practices.

Stakeholders at the conference unanimously agreed that improving learning outcomes requires continuous investment in teachers through regular training, mentorship and professional support.

The Sparkle Foundation Teachers’ Training Conference forms part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to advancing quality education by strengthening the capacity of educators and ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to inspired and well-equipped teachers.
